Thrice Around the Room
The layout that should have won the Classic Toy Trains layout contest instead of the actual winners, but didn't for reasons known only to CTT. We present several variations on this layout with different track systems and different minimum curvatures.
The standard layout is 16' x 12' as per the CTT contest rules. In this area we have used O54 and some O42 in the Lionel O version. We have been able to increase the minimum radius in versions using GarGraves O and Atlas O track. We also present versions scaled to a 12 ' x 9' footprint with O42 as the standard curve radius.

Full size layout with GarGraves O track: 109 track sections (~$700) and 32 accessories; 188ft of track; minimum radius of O54 with several curves of O63. Reversing loop, single loop or three pass operation, seven sidings, two tunnels. Maximum grade of 2.3 per cent. Uses GarGraves O track library and the O-Scale Accessories library.

Junior size (12 x 9) layout with GarGraves O track: 89 track sections (~$475) and 20 accessories; 120ft of track; minimum radius of O42. Reversing loop, single loop or three pass operation, three sidings, two tunnels. Maximum grade of 4.0 per cent. Uses GarGraves O track library and the MTH RailKing accessory library.
